- CMS - Contents Management System (How To choose); framework for a website providing menus, layouts, usermanagement and extension like blogs, galleries
- DHCP - Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol; sharing one IP by dealing local addresses to devices like PCs
- DNS - Domain Name System; transforms domainnames into IPnumbers
- Hosting - hireing storage for the files and data of a website
- HTML - HyperText Markup Language: programmingcode to describe a webpage
- ISP - Internet Service Provider; Company which provides access to the www/internet by connecting a building to their own net. Common types are (A)DSL and cable
- LAMP - The commonly used combination of software for hosting an building websites: Linux OS - Apache webserver - MySQL database - PHP Scripting language for webpages
- LAN - Local Area Network; group of connected computers in an office or house
- NIC - Network Interface Card; same is LAN-card, ethernetcard
- Router - device with DHCP & switch; nowadays often extended with WLAN/Wifi and VoIP
- SIP - Session Initiation Protocol is an agreement for communication between devices or computers
- Switch - crossroad for LAN-connections
- TLD - Top Level Domain; like COM, NET, NL
- VoIP - Voice over IP; Phone over internet
- WAN - Wide Area Network; mostly just the internet
- Wifi - Wireless connection (WLAN)
- WHOIS - Who Is this domainname; search for owner of domainname
- WLAN - Wireless LAN; LAN using Wificonnections
